Youth Brigade

The Youth Brigade engages teen students in community, environmental and public health projects.

The project combines a commitment to building a sustainable future in Goyena, active involvement in NHLSCP community based projects, and development of youth as future community leaders.

The Youth Brigade offers small stipends to students who commit to work with the Brigade 10 hours per week. The stipends are used to pay for school expenses, which help lessen the pressure to leave school to seek work.

Projects have included:

  • Working with the After School and Preschool programs.

  • Creating household gardens.

  • Clean Cook Stove outreach and education.

  • Working with Domestic Violence Prevention Program
